Vulnerable beneficiaries

Care for the people who depend on you, with a trust in your Will.

Young children, a family member with special needs or ageing parents: a testamentary trust, a trustee and payouts you define, written with you by a Certified Will Writer.

Who depends on you

  1. 1

    Young children

Without a trust, a child's share is paid out in full at 21, whether or not they can manage it.

  2. 2

A family member with special needs

If they lack mental capacity, your family must apply to court to be appointed deputy before anyone can act. A trustee can manage the money for them.

  3. 3

    Generational wealth

A trust builds a legacy: it gives your family lasting benefits, in line with your family's values and vision.

The “When I die” folder

Your family picks up one folder and knows where your assets are, what you owe and what you value. One Will service fee covers all five; the four beside your Will are complimentary.

FAQ

How much does a Testamentary Trust Will cost?

It depends on the structure. Alps Wills® quotes after a consultation.

When does a testamentary trust start?

On your death. Until then it is part of your Will, and you can change it whenever you update your Will.

Who can be a trustee?

A family member, a friend or a licensed trust company. Many families appoint two people, or one person with a trust company for larger or longer trusts.

Why use a testamentary trust for minor children?

An outright gift to a child is theirs in full at 21. A trust lets your trustee pay it out at the ages and on the terms you set.

Can a testamentary trust support a child with special needs?

Yes. A trust can pay regular support and medical and care costs to a dependant who cannot manage money alone, for as long as they need it.

What happens to the trust fund when the trust ends?

It passes to the remainder beneficiaries you name in your Will.
